The Power Of Prayer

In all fairness words really can’t describe the power of prayer to a believer. Those who believe in Christianity and pray often know that the power of prayer can do many things. There are those unfortunately who walk too fast in life and don’t use the power of prayer hardly at all today. However, we teach our children the bedtime prayers and perhaps prayers before eating a meal. These are more like motions than they are sincere and earnest prayers.

For example, the power of prayer is when a loved one is in the hospital and you pray sincerely that they will get better. And then they get better. Is that coincidence? Or is it the real power of prayer?

And if you hold strongly to your Christianity and someone close to you pass away. You pray that they are in Heaven and watching you know. Then, you feel a sense of peace just feeling that they are there and watching you. Is that not the power of prayer or is it just something that happens?

To many scholars and theologians the power of prayer is just not “powerful” any more. But I don’t believe that. And there are many others who would disagree too. If there is nothing to prayer or the power of prayer really, then why do we still teach our children bedtime prayers? Why is there an invocation at the world’s most popular sports such as auto racing?

Jesus
I don’t consider the power of prayer or the act of praying just a motion. It is something I take very seriously and I don’t enter into prayer lightly. I believe we all have to find our own way of living and we can’t force our Christianity on any person nor should we even try to. But at the same time, those who feel differently should not condemn the power of prayer either.

The idea of power in praying works for many people who do pray. Not only because they pray but because they believe that what they ask for or talk about in their prayers will eventually come to pass in one way or another. If no one prayed things in the world would probably be a lot worse. Though there are those who obviously would disagree. But what if that concept is true? And those who are praying are what is essentially keeping the world somewhat sane?

I don’t know about a lot of things. And, I have not perfected life and I never will. However, I do know that I have prayed and I continue to pray. All because I know what the power of prayer is; and what the power in sincerely praying can do. There is nothing wrong with praying and there is nothing wrong with believing that the prayer will make a difference. If no one took the time for prayer or believed in the power of prayer I think the world would be in an awful mess.
